The material that inspired this emergence was an article in which Vrubel’s life and work was divided into 13 stages, as a metaphor for the 13 Demons that haunted him all his life ✦
It was decided to call the book “The 13 Demons of Vrubel” and make it the 13th chapter, which can have its own color.
The color of the chapter changes throughout the book from light blue to black, symbolizing the artist's inner struggle and how he became more and more possessed by his inner demons, symbolizing the beginning and end of his life.
The layout of the text in the book also gradually descends further down the page with each chapter, everything becomes more chaotic and sweeping, personifying his inner madness.
The last chapter is printed on black pages — it is the memories of friends after Vrubel’s death ✦
